    By a burglar alarm or trip wire I assume that you want a something that makes a lot of sound.

    The simplest trip-wire alarm involves attaching the string to a container full of loud trinkets (i.e. small pieces of metal or glass), when the wire is tripped, the contents of the container are released and a loud noise is made.

    If you want a continuous alarm you need to attach the wire to a switch or a circuit breaker. When the alarm is set, the wire is tripped, the circuit is completed and what ever electric device used as the alarm is activated.
    The simplest setup would be to connect the trip wire to a mechanical switch that activates an electric alarm device.

    get a double AA battery or a triple AAA battery and an LED light
    then a switch (single pole, Single toggle with a lever on it)
    and some wire. Red and black wire 8 to 10 feet would be nice, small thin size like 20 gauge solid not stranded.
    You can get these at a radio shack.

    mount the switch behind a door, so that when the door is opened the switch turns on.

    An LED light has 2 sides, pos and neg. look on the pkg to see which is which.

    Make a small wood box to hold the battery in its own mount, and make a hole in the wood case so u can see the LED light up..

    If you dont know soldering, then u can get some strong tape or electrical black tape to make the wiring connections.

    Switch=====(-)LED+=====|
    =,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,\
    ========(-)Battery+=====|

    make the connections like this….the dashed lines and vertical lines are the wires.

    Place the red wire between the LED + and the Battery + side.

    Place a wire between 1 side of the switch and run it to the other side of the LED.

    Place a wire between the other side of the switch and run it to the other side of the Battery negative

    Then when your door opens the LED light should light, so at night you could see if some1 comes into the room.

    There’s dozens of other ways u can do this too.

    Formatting on my diagram doesnt come out, it should look like a box

    SWitch to wire to -LED+ to +battery- back to switch.

    careful if you hook it up wrong then u blow the LED.

    the LED package comes with a diagram, and the Triangle part of the LED goes to the Positive battery side. While the vertical line on the LED goes to the Negative part of the battery.
